FIRST FAMILY, OPEN FOR LIFESTYLE CHECK AMID CORRUPTION ALLEGATIONS, SAYS MALACAÑANG

Manila, Philippines – With the still unfolding issue of corruption in the country, former lawmaker Zaldy Co have implicated as well members of the first family in the issue of anomalies within the government.

He first tagged President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., claiming that he is the mastermind behind the billiond of budget insertions in the 2025 General Appropriations Act (GAA).

In another video, Co named Presidential son and house Majority Leader Sandro Marcos as responsible in the P50 billion worth of budget insertions from 2024 to 2025.

He claimed as well that Congressman Sandro got angry when he lack P8 billion of insertions.

In his most recent confession video, Co then linked First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and her brother in corruption allegations.

His allegations centered on the First Lady and her brother being the controlling power in importation and prices of rice and onions, reason for its soaring prices in both 2023 and 2024.

While the implicated members of the first family have separately denied Co’s allegations, the Malacañang Palace said the that First Family is open for lifestyle checks amid corruptoon accusations.

Palace Press Officer and Undersecretary Claire Castro said that the First Family is not exempted for lifestyle checks.

Castro, on the other hand, confirmed that the President have read the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ)’s report stating that Cong. Sandro have the highest share of allocable funds.

Castro said that the President have expressed confidence with Cong. Sandro and that he should know what he is doing.

Malacañang also reiterated Cong. Sandro’s willingness to face investigations on the allegations against him.

On Monday, ICI announced that Cong. Sandro is among the resource persons attending this week’s hearing.—Mia Layaguin, Eurotv News
