FORMER VP LENI ROBREDO SEEKS FOR LOCAL POST IN 2025

MANILA PHILIPPINES – Former Vice President Leni Robredo to run for mayor in Naga City in the coming 2025 midterm election, according to Albay 1st District representative Edcel Lagman.

Lagman said in an interview, Robredo allegedly told her that she will run for the local position to continue the programs of her late husband, and former Naga Mayor and Interior Secretary Jesse Robrero, who died in a plane crash in 2012.

“Ang last namin na pag-uusap, siya ay tatakbong mayor ng Naga City upang ipagpatuloy ang programa ng kanyang late husband (The last time we talked, she was planning to run for mayor of Naga City to continue the programs of her late husband),” according to lagman.

The lawmaker also said that Robredo is still the one to follow if she wants to accept if offered to him by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. position for secretary of the Department of Education left by Vice President Sara Duterte.

He said it was not expected that the president would offer the position to the former vice president.

“Yan ang call ni Leni. Wala kaming control dyan,” sabi ni lagman. said lagman.

Meanwhile, Robredo has not yet announced his plans for the upcoming 2025 midterm polls.

Robredo’s former senator and campaign manager Bam Aquino previously announced his plan to run for senator in the 2025 elections.
