Grandson Honors Farmer Grandparents for Helping Him Graduate College

In a heartwarming story, Jay Mark Maniquez Espartero, a recent college graduate, paid tribute to his farmer grandparents who supported him throughout his studies.

Espartero, who earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Financial Management from Davao Oriental State University, shared photos and videos of himself visiting his grandparents in their rice fields while still wearing his graduation gown.

According to Espartero, his grandparents, Marcelino Maniquez, 73, and Marteliana Maniquez, 72, were unable to attend his graduation ceremony because they could not travel anymore. However, he promised himself that he would take pictures with them upon his return, as they were instrumental in his success.

“To my very supportive Lola and Lolo, Mang, Pang Thank you so much for always supporting me even sometimes wala jud tungod sa ka wad-on pero it’s ok nalampasan raman japon tabang sa ginoo. I Love you both,” Espartero wrote in the caption of his Facebook post.

In an interview, Espartero shared that his grandparents raised him since his parents left him, though he could not explain why they abandoned him. Nevertheless, he expressed gratitude towards his grandparents for fulfilling the role of parents in his life.
