HARRY ROQUE ASKS PASIG RTC TO REVERSE DECISION ON PASSPORT CANCELLATION

Manila, Philippines – Two weeks have passed since the Pasig City Regional Trial Court ordered the cancellation of former Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque’s Philippine Passport.

This was in relation to the qualified human trafficking chrges he is facing linked with the illegal POGO operations.

Similar to his previous statement about an appeal on the said decision, Roque formally filed on Tuesday a motion for reconsideration seeking the reverse passport cancellation.

In an official statement, Roque confirmed the submission of the appeal citing that there is no legal basis to cancel his passport.

Roque reiterated that he is not a fugitive and that the court erred in describing him as one.

He further added that his continued stay in Europe and refusal to go back to the Philippines is part of his rights as an asylum seeker.

Pasig RTC noted in its decision that Roque has no justifiable grounds to refuse to return to the Philippines.

Roque then defended that his application for asylum is enough to justify his stay outside the Philippines.—Mia Layaguin, Eurotv News
