Manila, Philippines – The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) has officially announced that the Holy Month of Ramadan will begin on February 19.
This is after the moon sighting activities conducted by the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Darul Ifta, in collaboration with various Ulama groups, and the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
The activities conducted did not result in the sighting of the moon, known as Hilal. Therefore, the commission officially declared that the first day of fasting for Ramadan 1447 will begin.
The holy month of Ramadan is a time for strengthening faith through patience, compassion, and sincere devotion of Muslims.
In this regard, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. extended his solidarity to our Muslim brothers and sisters as the holy month of Ramadan begins.
“May your sacrifices, reflections, and encounters strengthen you to embody His boundless love for humanity, especially for the least among our brethren. Let every fast be a moment of self-emptying that fills your personal and spiritual hunger,”
In his message, the President said that Ramadan is a time for prayer, reflection, and strengthening faith.
Through fasting and sacrifice, discipline, humility, and compassion for others are deepened.
Meanwhile, in celebration of Ramadhan 2026/1447 AH, the public is advised to stay inside the Bangsamoro Government Center (BGC).
Recreational activities inside the BGC are temporarily suspended; motorcycles are not allowed to enter after 5:00 p.m., while tricycles are strictly prohibited.
In addition, drone operations must obtain prior permission from the ISS-OCM during the holy month.
