ILLIT, the rising K-pop girl group, made their highly anticipated comeback on Monday with the release of their second extended play (EP) I’ll Like You, aiming to highlight the group’s fresh and distinct qualities.
“We’re excited to present more of ILLIT’s genuine charm while also exploring new musical styles,” shared Minju, one of the group’s five members, through an interpreter during an online media showcase.
The EP consists of five tracks, led by the dance-pop single “Cherish (My Love).”
“Our title track expresses the sentiment of wanting to know how someone feels about you, but prioritizing your own emotions even more,” explained group leader Yunah.
“We worked incredibly hard on the song, recording it seven times. It really pushed us to grow as a group,” she added.
I’ll Like You marks ILLIT’s first release since their debut EP Super Real Me in March, which featured the single “Magnetic.”
“I feel even more nervous and excited than on our debut day because this is our first comeback,” said Wonhee, reflecting on the group’s journey.
ILLIT’s debut single “Magnetic” achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first debut song by a K-pop act to enter the Billboard Hot 100 chart, where it peaked at No. 91.
The group, which also includes members Moka and Iroha, was formed through the reality competition show R U Next? and is managed by Belift Lab, a sub-label of Hybe that also represents boy group ENHYPEN.
