Kabankalan City Road Collapses: Mayor Urges Motorists to Take Precautions

In Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, heavy rain from a low-pressure area (LPA) caused a section of road in Sitio Banga, Barangay Camingawan, to collapse on Wednesday, July 17, prompting Mayor Benjie Miranda to issue a reminder for motorists to exercise caution.

Miranda, who was in Manila at the time, shared photos of the collapsed road on Facebook the following day, describing it as a “landslide” that occurred in the area.

In a radio interview, Miranda mentioned that the movement of motorists in the affected area was temporarily restricted due to the incident. He noted that the collapsed road is part of the bridge leading to Barangay Carol-an.

Immediate road maintenance efforts were initiated to ensure the road’s accessibility to motorists. Miranda also mentioned that a thorough assessment was conducted to evaluate the extent of the damage and determine the necessary repairs.
