Landslide and Flooding Hit Parts of Mindanao Due to Heavy Rains

Intense rainfall experienced in various regions of Mindanao from Friday afternoon to evening resulted in flooding and landslides.

In Davao City, river overflow impacted the construction of a bridge in Barangay Tapak, Paquibato district, on Friday afternoon. Portions of Barangay Tapak were buried under landslides, making them impassable for motorists.

Residents joined forces to clear the mud and restore access to the roads.

In Lanao del Sur, a pickup truck was nearly swept away by rushing floodwaters while stranded in Barangay Bagoaingud, Malabang, late Friday night. Kairuden Lawi reported that the truck stalled on the road and was caught in waist-deep water.

“The pickup was pushed out of the flood, and the passengers were able to escape safely,” Lawi recounted to ABS-CBN News.

Rescue operations were also conducted by the 2nd Zamboanga City Mobile Force Company for residents trapped in their homes due to flooding.

In Sultan Kudarat, vehicles could not cross the Sebayor Bridge, which was damaged by floodwaters, while the Sinandigan Bridge in Palimbang was also rendered impassable due to the raging river.

Additionally, the body of a seven-year-old girl, who had been reported missing during the recent flooding in Matanog, Maguindanao del Norte, was discovered yesterday.
