LTFRB TO WAVE DOWN UNCONSOLIDATED PUJ ON MAY 16

Manila, Philippines- The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board said  on Wednesday, it will start on apprehending the unconsolidated Public Utility Jeepneys on Thursday, May 16, 2024.

The LTFRB Chairperson Teofilo Guadiz III This will about to happen after jeepney drivers and operators failed to consolidate their route franchise with cooperatives on April 30, 2024 as the deadline.

“Pwede na kaming mag-flag down bukas and pwede na kaming manghuli ng driver ng sasakyan dahil tapos na rin po ang binigay nating palugit para sa kanila para ‘wag na pong mag-byahe ‘yung mga hindi pa po nag-consolidate,” he said.

Guadiz earlier reminded the drivers and operators of traditional jeepney who refuse to join the program will be announced colorum.

Earlier this month of May, Guadiz has also said that Show-cause-orders will be sent to drivers and operators as a notice that they no longer have a franchise.

The chairman also added that the agency almost sent to everyone the  show-cause-order on May 2.

Guadiz insisted, the drivers of traditional jeepneys who will be caught plying tomorrow may be punished with a one-year suspension, while their public transport may be fined PHP50,000 and impounded for 30 days.

Based on LTFRB data, there are 1,900 unconsolidated jeepneys that are not r part of the PUVMP

However, despite the warnings of the LTFRB and the Department of Transportation, on the part of the Manibela group, and according to Manibela Chairman Mar Valbuena, their flight will continue tomorrow.
