MANILA PHILIPPINES – The Land Transportation Office (LTO) expressed its full support of the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) initiative to have its officials take public transportation to find ways to improve the lives of Filipino commuters.
On September 15, 2025, LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II stated that the DOTr order for its executives to experience the everyday travel of the Filipino commuters would be a good way to formulate feedback.
Asec Mendoza showed his support by saying, the DOTr officials will exeperience the realities of public transportation.
“We in the LTO welcome this order from our Secretary and treat this as a back to basic policy that will keep the DOTr officials in touch with the realities of public transportation,” Mendoza said in a statement.
“We assure Secretary Lopez of our full support and compliance, including the observations and recommendations to improve the transportation system in the country.” he added.
The order implores the top officials of DOTr and its adjacent agencies to commute at least once a week.
The directive will extend to the LTO Chief, all the way to the Assistant Regional Directors, with Asec Mendoza adding that the heads of District Offices and Satellite Offices shall be included in a supplement order.
Mendoza reiterated his support, saying that they could come up with the best measures to improve public transportation.
“Magandang experience ito para sa lahat and through this, we are optimistic that we could come up with the best measures to improve the public transportation system in the country.” the secretary added.
