LTO, PERPETUALLY REVOKES THE LICENSES OF 2 DPWH EXECS

QUEZON CITY, PHILIPPINES – The Land Transportation Office (LTO) perpetually revokes the driver’s license of two Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) who were associated with the anomalous flood control projects.

LTO Chief, Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II said that the revocation of Henry Alcantara and Brice Hernandez—the two former DPWH officials—is aligned with the implementation of new land transportation laws.

Under RA 4136, or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code, a case of Imitation and False Representation was filed against Alcantara and Hernandez, implementing P3,000 fine each.

Asec. Mendoza stated that this move is a testament to the LTO’s stand against falsification.

“This is proof of our strong stand against using any documents, or falsifying any document being issued by the LTO. Talagang hahabulin namin kayo,” said Asec Mendoza in a statement.

“The driver’s license of both Mr. Alcantara and Mr. Hernandez are revoked and they are perpetually disqualified from being granted any kind of driver’s license,” he added.

The LTO was tasked to investigate the Senate hearing’s disclosures that Alcantara and Hernandez utilized fake licenses for gambling.

A casino confirmed the confession that Alcantara made about using a fake license with the name Joseph Castro Villegas to apply to a Reward Circle.

A confirmation by the same casino also revealed the application of Hernandez—with a fake license under the name Marvin Santos de Guzman—to the same Reward Circle.

Alcantara and Hernandez, according to Asec Mendoza, were made liable for a case of being an Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle under Section 27 (a) of R.A. 4136, after the evidence collected showed that they both knew they were using falsified licenses.

The two were also made to surrender their driver’s licenses.

Asec. Mendoza stated that this case shall serve as a cautionary tale for all Filipinos, should they imitate the actions of Alcantara and Hernandez.

Magsilbing aral sana ito sa ating mga kababayan ng inyong kakaharapin kung tutuluran ninyo ang maling gawain na ito,” voiced Asec Mendoza. — Cloe Dela Cruz, Contributor
