MANILA, Philippines — Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o has officially confirmed that she is single and no longer in a relationship with actor Joshua Jackson.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK, Nyong’o shared her affection for her cat Yoyo, saying, “My love for my cat is singular.
If I’m ever so lucky to be in a romantic relationship again, it’ll be because of him.
I was ready to shut that door and lock it and bolt it. He has ensured that my heart remains open.”
Speculation about their breakup started earlier this year when Jackson was seen with German model Nastassja Roberts.
Nyong’o and Jackson were first spotted together in October 2023, attending a Janelle Monáe concert in Los Angeles.
That same month, Nyong’o adopted Yoyo from the Best Friends Animal Society, and the couple later confirmed their relationship.
At the time of Yoyo’s adoption, Nyong’o had recently ended her relationship with sports commentator Selema Masekela, while Jackson’s wife, Jodie Turner-Smith, had filed for divorce after four years of marriage.
Turner-Smith had publicly supported Nyong’o and Jackson’s relationship in June, a few months after they were seen celebrating Nyong’o’s 41st birthday in Mexico.
Lupita Nyong’o is known for winning a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for 12 Years a Slave and starring in films such as Us, Black Panther, and A Quiet Place: Day One.
Joshua Jackson, who rose to fame in The Mighty Ducks films, is known for his roles in TV shows like Dawson’s Creek, Fringe, and Dr. Death.
