Paris, France — French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed Eduardo de Vega, the Philippines’ newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to France.
He presented his Letter of Credence to President Macron during a courtesy call that was held at the Élysée Palace in Paris on September 1, 2025.
The French Embassy said the courtesy call highlights the shared commitments of both nations to deepen bilateral ties.
The meeting underscored ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation in various areas, including trade, culture, and diplomacy, reflecting the enduring friendship between France and the Philippines.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sent his warmest greetings to the French President and also thanked him for France’s warm welcome to more than 30,000 Filipino Migrants in their country.
As Macron welcomed De Vega, he affirmed his desire to visit the Philippines in 2026.
De Vega’s appointment marks a new chapter in Philippine-French relations with both sides expressing optimism about future engagements that will benefit their peoples and contribute to global partnerships.
De Vega served as Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs before the appointment.—Lei Valdoz, Contributor
