MANILA — Danilo “Ka Daning” Ramos, a prominent leader of the Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) and a rice farmer from Bulacan, has been selected as the seventh senatorial candidate of the Makabayan coalition for the 2025 elections.
Ramos announced his candidacy on Thursday under the slogan “Magsasaka, itanim sa Senado.”
“Tinatanggap ko ang hamon at tungkulin ng Makabayan, para isulong ang interes ng magsasaka at taumbayan sa Senado. Dala ang karanasan bilang magbubukid, higit kong itataguyod ang tunay na reporma sa lupa at pag-unlad ng kanayunan,” Ramos declared in his acceptance speech.
Ramos joins six other candidates running under the Makabayan coalition: ACT Teachers Rep. France Castro, Gabriela Rep. Arlene Brosas, Kilusang Mayo Uno’s Jerome Adonis, former anti-poverty chief Liza Masa, and former Bayan Muna Rep. Teddy Casino.
The Makabayan coalition previously announced its intention to field a “full slate” of 12 candidates for the upcoming midterm elections next year.
