MARCOS CONGRATULATES MODI FOR WINNING THE ELECTION

Manila Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. expressed his congratulatory message to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the recently concluded election.

In a statement, Marcos said that India has been sincere in its friendship with the Philippines over the past decade.

He said this is proof of the continued strengthening of bilateral relations and regional partnership between the two countries in the years to come.

“The last decade has shown India as a sincere friend to the Philippines & I look forward to the further strengthening of our bilateral and regional partnership in the years ahead,” according to Marcos in his post on the X account.

Modi has thanked PBBM and said that the relationship between the Philippines and India is focused on improving the strategic partnership.

Indians are also promoting the safety of Filipinos, likewise the regional peace and stability.

“We are committed to build upon the gains of the past decade in the strategic partnership between India and the Philippines. These hold immense potential for the welfare of our people and to promote regional peace and stability,” said Modi on his X account.

Some other countries also expressed congratulations on Modi’s victory in the election, including the United States, Russia, China, among others.

In March,  the Indian government invited Marcos for a state visit, conveyed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs during its courtesy call to the president.

Diplomatic relations between the Philippines and India were established on November 16, 1949.

The two countries agreed to sign the Treaty of Friendship in Manila on July 11, 1952.
