Marcos to Award Incentives to Carlos Yulo and Other Filipino Olympians on August 13

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is set to honor and grant incentives to two-time Olympic champion Carlos Yulo and other Filipino Olympians during a ceremony at Malacañang on Tuesday, August 13, as announced by the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) on Friday.

The Filipino athletes who participated in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France, are expected to arrive on Tuesday afternoon. They will be greeted by their families at Villamor Airbase in Pasay City.

“The 2024 Paris Olympics athletes will then proceed to the PICC (Philippine International Convention Center), where they will be welcomed by government officials before embarking on a heroes’ parade traversing key areas in Manila. The parade will culminate at Malacañang Palace,” the PCO stated.

A special program will be held at the Palace, where President Marcos will present incentives to the athletes in recognition of their “extraordinary contributions to Philippine sports and their stellar performance during the 2024 Paris Olympics,” according to the PCO.

The Philippines has secured four medals at the ongoing Paris Games, including two gold medals in gymnastics by Yulo and two bronze medals from boxers Aira Villegas and Nesthy Petecio.

Yulo is the country’s second Olympic gold medalist, following weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz’s historic achievement at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
