NADIA MONTENEGRO RESIGNS AMID ALLEGATIONS OF USING MARIJUANA

Manila, Philippines – The office of Senator Robin Padilla confirmed that Nadia Montenegro has resigned as political affairs officer following the allegations that she used marijuana inside the Senate of the Philippines premises.

Padilla’s Chief of Staff, Atty. Rudolf Philip Jurado, made the announcement on Monday and said that they accepted Montenegro’s resignation.

In an explanation letter to Padilla’s office, Montenegro said that she was asked to explain several times about the allegations that she used marijuana.

On August 13, she was required to explain about the news that someone saw her using marijuana in the Senate restroom.

Montenegro denied the accusation that she was the one being referred to in the news articles, being pointed out that she was allegedly that staff of a Senator.

Montenegro urged the Senate to study the incident report that reached the media, which was said to be premature and pre-emptive.

The family of the former actress were affected by the accusation.

The Office of the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms (OSAA) is investigating the incident.

This is the second time that Senate staff have filed a complaint regarding the marijuana-like smell in the Senate.

Several senators have also called for random drug testing of Senate staff, following the incident.–Alvin Pelobello, Eurotv News
