Manila, Philippines – The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) expresses deep concern over the extensive damage to cultural properties caused by the magnitude 6.7 earthquake that struck Cebu on September 30, 2025.
In response, the NCCA is working closely with other national cultural agencies including the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), National Museum of the Philippines, National Archives of the Philippines, National Library of the Philippines, Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), and the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino to formulate and implement emergency measures for the protection and conservation of affected cultural properties.
The Commission is also coordinating with the Cebu Archdiocesan Commission for Cultural Heritage and relevant local government units to conduct a thorough assessment of the damage and extend necessary assistance to affected communities.
The NCCA urges the public to remain calm, vigilant, and safe during this time of crisis.
