NCT’s Jaehyun to Begin Military Service on November 4: Fans Rally Behind Him

K-pop star Jaehyun from NCT is set to begin his mandatory military service this November, making him the second member of the popular group to enlist.

SM Entertainment, the label behind NCT, confirmed the news on Thursday via a notice posted on NCT 127’s fan community on the Weverse app.

“NCT’s Jaehyun applied to the Army Band and received a notification of acceptance from the Military Manpower Administration today,” the agency said, as translated by K-pop news outlet Soompi.

He is scheduled to enlist as an active-duty soldier on November 4. The label added that there would be no public event on the day Jaehyun, whose real name is Jeong Yun-o, reports to the training center.

“We ask for your unwavering support and love until Jaehyun completes his military service and returns in good health,” SM Entertainment said.

South Korea mandates military service for most able-bodied men, requiring up to 21 months of service due to the ongoing tensions with North Korea.

At 27, Jaehyun follows NCT’s leader, Taeyong, as the next member to fulfill his military duties. Jaehyun, who debuted in 2016, is a part of several sub-units including NCT U, NCT 127, and NCT DoJaeJung.

In August, he made his solo debut with the release of his album “J.”
