NEW LOCALLY DESIGNED WEAPON SYSTEM, TURNED OVER TO PA’S CAMP O’DONNELL

Manila, Philippines – The newly mounted automated weapons system at the Armor Division’s Headquarters in Camp O’Donnell in Capas Tarlac has been formally turned over to the Philippine Army.

The Filipino-made Controller-Operated Battle Read Armament (COBRA) was from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

According to Army Chief Lt. Gen. Antonio G. Nafarrete, with the help of COBRA, soldiers will no longer be exposed to heavy weapons while operating heavy weapons.

This project is also a symbol of the joint effort to become self-reliant through science, technology and innovation.

According to the Philippine Army, these types of manufacturing are a testament to the joint approach in support of the government’s Self Reliant Defense Posture.

For Filipinos Do Not Yield Movement Chairman Emeritus Dr. Jose Antonio Goitia, he said innovation is important that strengthens the capabilities of a state.

This includes recognizing indigenous technologies as an investment in the future of national defense.—Alvin Pelobello, Eurotv News
