NGCP PLACES LUZON GRID INTO YELLOW ALERT, ANEW

Manila Philippines — The Luzon Grid has again been place under yellow alert status due to insufficient power supply.

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) implemented the alert status in Luzon grid, Thursday between 3 and 4 in the afternoon.

According to the NGCP, the available capacity of the Luzon Grid is at 15,115 Megawatts compared to the peak demand of about 14,000 Megawatts.

The yellow alert is implemented in the event of a supply shortage for the requirement contingency of the transmission grid.

Luzon and Visayas Grid were recently placed under Red Alert last week due to unstable supply from the power plants.

The Department of Energy has also warned the public to expect more yellow and red alerts in the coming weeks due to the high demand caused by the El Nino.

The House and the Senate want to investigate the red and yellow alerts in the Luzon and Visayas grid due to the unexpected outages of more than 32 power plants.
