An off-duty policeman was shot and killed by a teenager he had stopped for a curfew violation in Mandaue, Cebu, as reported by 24 Oras on Monday.
The investigation revealed that the incident occurred around midnight on Saturday when the 16-year-old suspect was seen walking outdoors by the victim.
The policeman identified himself and advised the teenager to go home due to the curfew.
Investigators reported that the teenager claimed he shot the officer out of fear of being arrested.
The suspect surrendered to authorities the following morning, but the weapon used in the shooting has not been recovered.
The teenager has been handed over to the Mandaue City Social Welfare Services.
The Mandaue City Police stated that they plan to file a murder charge against the suspect.
