OFWs WITH UNFORTUNATE JOB EXPERIENCE IN SAUDI RETURNS TO PH AFTER REPATRIATION

Manila, Philippines – 49 distressed Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia successfully return to the Philippines on Tuesday, August 19.

Along with the OFWs are two dependents from Jeddah and Al Khobar who were safely repatriated back to the Philippines, through the joint efforts of the Philippine Embassy and Migrant Workers Offices in KSA.

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) reported that these OFWs were workers who experienced an unfortunate situation in their overseas employment, hence requested to be repatriated.

Before repatriation, these OFWs stayed at Bahay Kalinga shelters in Jeddah and Al Khobar.

As soon as they arrived, they were given immediate financial assistance under the DMW Aksyon Fund, as well as other necessary assistance provided by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).

They also went for medical check ups, and were given temporary accommodation and transportation services as they returned to their provinces.

DMW and OWWA also referred them to concerned agencies to provide assistance in their reintegration.

DMW further assured the agency’s programs and measures to ensure the safety and welfare of Filipino workers—both jobseekers and deployed.

The agency also offers reintegration programs like training and upskilling activities for Filipino returnees to prepare them with better employment opportunities.—Mia Layaguin,  Eurotv News
