P35 MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE IN NCR BEGINS JULY 17

MANILA PHILIPPINES – The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) has approved an additional P35 to the daily wages of minimum wage earners in the National Capital Region (NCR) who work in private establishments.

This announcement was confirmed by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

Starting July 17, the wage increase will take effect.

From the previous P610, Filipino workers in the non-agriculture sector will now receive P645, while those working in the agriculture sector, retail establishments employing 15 or fewer workers, and manufacturing establishments regularly employing than 10 workers will receive P608 from the previous P573.

The wage increase was approved following calls from several labor groups due to escalating prices of basic commodities in the country.

It is expected that more than 988,243 minimum wage earners in NCR and approximately 1.7 million full-time wage and salary workers earning above the minimum will benefit from this.

Meanwhile, it is noteworthy that the last wage increase in NCR was implemented in the previous year.
