The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reports on Wednesday, June 5 that a low-pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) to the east of Japan is expected to bring rains to the country.
According to DOST Pagasa Weather Specialist Obet Badrina, the LPA trough outside the PAR may cause cloudiness in the eastern part of Central Luzon and Northern part of Luzon.
Rains will be experienced in Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, Camarines Norte, and Camarines Sur.
While the rest of the country will still experience hot weather, isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are possible.
Badrina also explained why, despite the declaration of the rainy season, hot weather is still expected.
He stated that this is caused by a monsoon break, where the southwest monsoon or “habagat” is weak.
However, over the coming weekend, a strong southwesterly trend may prevail over Palawan, Western Visayas, and the western part of Luzon.
Badrina clarified that no tropical cyclone is expected to become a typhoon inside or outside the country this week. However, the weather bureau does not rule out the small chance of a typhoon.
