PASIG COURT REJECTS QUIBOLOY’S REQUEST FOR LIVE INTERVIEW

Pasig City, Philippines — The Pasig Regional Trial Court Branch 159 has recently dismissed the appeal of self-proclaimed “Son of God” pastor Apollo Quiboloy to take part in a live television interview related to his candidacy.

In an order released this January 13, the court has denied Quiboloy’s request to appear in a live interview scheduled on January 14, in relation to the certificate of candidacy he filed as a senatorial bet in the upcoming midterm elections.

The decision noted that Quiboloy, who is currently detained for several cases, may discuss the merits of his ongoing case, and may influence public perception of the matter.

In addition, the court emphasized that his appearance on a live interview may expose the Court to public prejudice, hence compromising its integrity.

The court also stated that the urgent motion filed by Quiboloy was not accompanied with a formal invitation from the channel airing the supposed live interview, thus they were not able to set the parameters of the request.

Pasic RTC, however, clarified that Quiboloy is not restricted to participate in a live media interview, as long as his sole purpose will only be about campaigning his platform and candidacy to the public.
