PBBM APPOINTS SOJ REMULLA AS NEW OMBUDSMAN

Manila, Philippines – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday officially appointed Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla as the news Ombudsman of the Philippines.

The Presidential Communications Office confirmed in a statement Remulla’s appointment in the post, replacing former Ombudsman Samuel Martires, whose term ended last July.

Remulla was the pick of the President among 17 applicants for the post.

As the new Ombudsman, Remulla is expected to uphold the transparency and anti-corruption drive of the government, as well as ensure fairness and justice.

The Office of the Ombudsman is the main body tasked to investigate and persecute public officials who will be involved with graft and corruption issues.

Before his new post, Remulla served as the secretary of the Department of Justice from 2022.

On the other hand, Undersecretary atty. Fredderick Vida was announced to be DOJ’s acting officer-in-charge following Remulla’s reinstatement.—Mia Layaguin, Eurotv News
