PBBM VOWS TO CAPACITATE AFP FOR EXTERNAL ROLE DEFENSE

MANILA PHILIPPINES – President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Jr. vowed support to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), with additional resources, training, and equipment to to enhance its effectiveness.

According to President Marcos Jr. the AFP needs to boost it’s capabilities as it transitions from internal operation to an external defense posture.

“Now, I am sure that all of you are aware that the internal threat has been reduced.”  “We will do everything so that you are capable. You have the ability to do the job—that is this new job that you have to face. You have the capability,” according to President Marcos.

He said the military has to transition so it can continue performing its mandate to promote the safety of the people and the security of Philippine territory against current emerging threats.

It is said that this includes the civilian government, together with the leadership of the AFP up to its commanders in different units, to work together to strengthen the security forces.

We will do everything to make you capable. You have the ability to do the job; that is this new job that you have to face. You have the ability. You have the training. You have the equipment, and we will be able to present at least a deterrent force,” the president said.

The President congratulated the troops of the 10th ID on their achievements through hard work, skill, and courage.

He urged the soldiers to become peacekeepers by encouraging the communist rebels to return to the government.

We are not at war with anyone. We don’t want to enter anything. We are just defensive, and we are just defending our country,he added.
