Manila, Philippines – Amid continuous refusal to come home despite facing multiple charges in the Philippines, the Sandiganbayan formally declared ex lawmaker Zaldy Co as fugitive from justice.
On Wednesday, the Sandiganbayan ordered as well the cancellation of Co’s Philippine passport, as confirmed by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) also made a move, confirming the submission of a red notice request against Co.
NBI noted that they have filed for a red notice versus Co before the International Police since November 23rd.
Interpol’s red notice allows the Philippines to tap law enforcements all over the world to locate Co, leading to his provisional arrest.
Co, among several DPWH officials linked with the flood control scandal, has an active arrest warrant here in the Philippines.
Two weeks ago, the Department of Interior and Local Government confirmed the issuance of Interpol’s blue notice against Co, allowing the government to collect additional information on an individual subjected to a criminal investigation.
Presently, NBI has leads on Co’s whereabouts but refused to give further details to not compromise their moves and activities.
Related agencies also continue to monitor and confirm whether Co possesses a Portuguese passport.—Mia Layaguin, Eurotv News
