PH-BRAZIL INKS DEAL IN TECHNICAL, EDUCATION COOPERATION

Manila Philippines – The state visit of Foreign Affairs of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Hon. Mauro Vieira in the Philippines marks historic, because this is the first time such an official has visited the country in more than 80 years since the establishment of bilateral relations between the Philippines and Brazil

Two agreements were signed between Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo and Vieira regarding technical cooperation and education cooperation.

The agreement between Brazil and the Philippines regarding the peaceful uses of outer space is also expected to be signed today.

“We have just finished a comprehensive discussion on a number of topics of common concern to the Philippines and Brazil, and as we just witnessed, signed the agreements in Technical Cooperation and Educational Cooperation, which we envision will steer the bilateral cooperation agenda towards the achievement of shared development goals,” said Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo.

“Tonight, we will also be signing the agreement on Cooperation in the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, a new area of ​​cooperation that will strengthen the linkages between the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) and the Brazilian Space Agency (AEB),” he added. the secretary

Manalo and Vieira also exchanged views on the defense, security, trade and investment sectors.

Because Brazil considers the Philippines as an important ally when it comes to maintaining stability in the Indo-Pacific region and allied countries in Southeast Asia.

“Minister Vieira’s visit is a clear demonstration of Brazil’s commitment to deepen its engagement with Asia, especially ASEAN and the Philippines. It is a partnership that transcends distance and language barrier and one that is rooted in our mutual desire to improve our peoples’ well- being and prosperity,” Manalo said.

Vieira also expressed the interest to strengthen the defense between the Philippines and Brazil by sending air assets and in the aspect of education, even in suppressing the effect of Climate change between the two countries.

“I am enthusiastic about the good prospects for increasing dialogue and cooperation between Brazil and the Philippines in many areas. I would like to invite all stakeholders in both countries to join us in building a stronger bilateral partnership,” said Vieira.

It is said that Brazil is also preparing to host the 7th Bilateral Consultation Mechanism (BCM) that will take place next year.

The two foreign ministers also announced their arrangement for a high-level meeting between President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

It is said to be possible next year.
