MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Ipinagbawal ng gobyerno ng Pilipinas, sa pamamagitan ng Department of Agriculture (DA), ang pag-angkat ng mga ibon mula sa Australia kasunod ng mga kumpirmadong kaso ng bird flu sa southern nation.
Sinabi ng DA na ang pagbabawal sa pag-import ng mga domestic at ligaw na ibon mula sa Australia ay iniutos matapos ang Chief Veterinary Officer nito ay nagsumite ng ulat ng paglaganap ng H7N3 at H7N9 —mga subtype ng highly pathogenic avian influenza virus—sa World Organization for Animal Health. (WOAH).
Ang mga paglaganap ay naitala noong Mayo 23 sa Meredith at Mayo 25 sa Terang sa State ng Victoria.
Habang ang naturang impeksyon ay kinumpirma ng Australian Center for Disease Preparedness.
Kasunod ng abiso na ito ng gobyerno ng Australia, sinabi ng DA na naglabas ng Memorandum order No. 21 si Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr.
Ang memorandum ay nag-utos sa Bureau of Animal Industry na suspindihin ang pag-iisyu ng Sanitary and Phytosanitary Import Clearances (SPSIC) para sa mga pag-import mula sa Australia ng mga ligaw at alagang ibon, kabilang ang poultry meat, day-old chicks, itlog, at semilya.
“All shipments coming from Australia that are in transit/load/accepted unto port before the official communication of this order to the Australian authorities shall be allowed provided that the products were slaughtered/produced on or before May 9, 2024,” saad sa nilagdaang memorandum.
