Makati City, Philippines — The Philippines earned USD1.1 billion or PHP65.3 billion worth of tourism revenues in January 2025 alone.
The Department of Tourism reported that this translates to a 151.46 percent increase in tourism revenue compared to the pre-pandemic period in 2019.
Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco said that this is a positive note on the tourism sector, which was highly affected by the pandemic.
“The recovery of Philippine tourism from the period of the pandemic in terms of revenues translates to thousands of jobs created for Filipinos, providing livelihood opportunities for many, especially in our rural and underserved areas,” she noted.
Foreign arrivals are among the key factors that boosted the Philippines’ tourism sector and its revenues from visitors.
