Pasig City, Philippines — Amidst the high heat index experienced in the country, too much exposure can also impose higher risks of heat-related illnesses.
With this, PHILHEALTH assures its members that heat-related illnesses are also covered within their packages.
In a public advisory, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation President and CEO Dr. Edwin M. Mercado said that members and dependents are entitled to benefit packages for heat-related illnesses, like heat stroke for example.
If admitted to Philhealth-accredited health facilities, patients can avail P12,675 benefit package for heat stroke and heat exhaustion.
Patients that suffered from heat fatigue and needed hospitalization are eligible for the benefit package worth P18,135.
PHILHEALTH also encouraged its members to utilize the Free Konsulta Package offered by the organization, and seek early consultation and intervention for heat-related illnesses.
“We urge our members to be vigilant, stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun,
and seek immediate medical attention if they experience any symptoms,” says Mercado.
