PHILIPPINE COAST GUARD CONDUCTS NATIONAL RESCUE WORKSHOP

MANILA PHILIPPINES – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) conducted a three-day National Search and Rescue Seminar/Workshop at Nasugbu, Batangas from 07 to 09 August 2024.

In his speech Deputy Commandant for Administration, CG Vice Admiral Allan Victor Dela Vega emphasized “Search and Rescue is a very important function of the Coast Guard─ the inherent function of Coast Guard all over the world.

The seminar is also an avenue for training Coast Guard Districts and personnel in creating their respective Maritime Search and Rescue Sub-Centers (MRSC) and designed to provide a structured, efficient, and effective approach to search and rescue operations in the event of disasters or emergencies.

The plan will outline a comprehensive strategy for coordinating search and rescue efforts, ensuring that all actions are aligned with best practices and emergency management protocols.

This undertaking also aims to clearly define the roles of all involved parties, including first responders, volunteers, support personnel, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth and coordinated operations.

It was also highlighted that detailed guidelines on the deployment and use of resources, including personnel, equipment, and technology, should be provided to maximize efficiency and effectiveness during rescue missions.

The National Search and Rescue Seminar/Workshop is a significant milestone for the Philippine Coast Guard as this targets to establish a clear and actionable plan, taking proactive steps to saving lives.
