Manila, Philippines – Government workers can now receive a P7,000 annual medical allowance starting this year, following the approval of its guidelines by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman announced the approval of Budget Circular 2024-6, which sets the rules for the grant of the medical allowance, in line with Executive Order (EO) 64 signed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. last August.
“This is a promise fulfilled,” Pangandaman said today (January 2, 2025) emphasizing that the initiative will help public servants access health maintenance organization (HMO) benefits for their medical needs.
She also thanked President Marcos for prioritizing state workers’ health, describing the allowance as both a benefit and an investment in workforce well-being.
The allowance applies to all civilian personnel in national government agencies, state universities and colleges, government-owned and controlled corporations not covered by specific laws, and local government units, regardless of employment status.
Aside from HMO-type coverage, it can be also availed in cash form.
