POC UNVEILS ‘SINAG BARONG’ FOR 2024 PARIS OLYMPICS

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – The Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) has unveiled the Sinag barong that Nesthy Petecio and Carlo Paalam will wear at the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The said attire is made by renowned Filipino fashion designer Francis Libiran.

The two Filipino athletes who won silver medals in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics will serve as the flag bearers of the Philippines in the upcoming Olympics on July 26.

The barong is made of piña-jusi fabric with a detachable silk organdy embroidered with sun rays.

Its design is also inspired by the Pintados warrior pattern.

These designs symbolize bravery and the rich culture of the Philippines.

Currently, the country has 15 qualifiers for the upcoming competition.

However, more Filipino athletes are expected to join in the coming days.
