Prime Video Highlights Philippine Comedy in “LOL: Last One Laughing Philippines” Hosted by Vice Ganda

Prime Video showcases Philippine comedy with its Amazon Original series “LOL: Last One Laughing Philippines.” The series promises a mix of humor, strategy, and resilience as 10 Filipino comedians compete in a battle where laughter is the enemy.

Hosted by “Asia’s Unkabogable Phenomenal Box Office Superstar” Vice Ganda, the show features comedic talents such as Victor Anastacio, Jayson Gainza, Pepe Herrera, Chad Kinis, Empoy Marquez, Kim Molina, Jerald Napoles, Negi, Tuesday Vargas, and Rufa Mae Quinto. Special appearances include Petite and Divine Tetay.

The premise of “LOL: Last One Laughing” is straightforward yet challenging: comedians are confined in a room for six hours, with the goal of making their opponents laugh without laughing themselves. With numerous cameras capturing every moment, the show is a masterclass in comedic resilience, wit, and timing. The last comedian standing wins P1 million.

Maintaining composure amid humor is a tough task. Molina, known for her infectious laughter, found it particularly difficult.

“As the ‘bungisngis’ of the group, I struggled the most. We were told not to laugh or even smirk. There were so many cameras around, so everywhere we went, they could see us. I asked the team why I was included, but I really wanted to be part of something like this because it’s different. I was nervous, but since they said we could show other emotions, I just cried throughout,” she shared.

Despite the global success of the LOL format, the Filipino adaptation brings its unique flavor.

“There’s no pressure. I watched two other countries’ versions, and their humor is different. But what’s great about Filipino humor is its completeness. We’re driven by the prize, and our show has everything — slapstick, dry humor, performance art, and advocacy. It’s packed. I think other countries will feel the pressure after watching us,” Napoles confidently stated.

The group unanimously agreed that Vice Ganda’s quick wit and adaptability make him the perfect host for this groundbreaking show.

Gainza praised his hosting skills, saying, “No one else could host this show but Vice Ganda. Sometimes, they don’t even follow the script because they know how to ad-lib perfectly. They can expand everything. From the control room to those who get eliminated, it’s always fun.”

Vice Ganda described the show as “the bardagulan (playful exchange of banter) of the century.”

He noted, “You’ve seen bardagulan from various personalities and characters, but this is the first time you’ll see 10 of the best comedians in the Philippines battling it out simultaneously. They each have their brand of comedy, and you’ll see who can not only make others laugh but also who can hold back their own laughter because that’s the biggest challenge in this show.”

“LOL: Last One Laughing” has already captivated audiences worldwide, becoming the most-watched title on Prime Video in several countries. It has local adaptations in Italy, France, Germany, Mexico, Australia, India, Spain, Canada, and more. It is now available for streaming on Prime Video.
