Manila, Philippines – Less than two months left before the 10-day celebration of the Feast of the Nazarene 2026 which will run from December 31, 2025 to January 9, 2026, Quiapo Church and the Manila City Government have begun issuing reminders for all devotees who will attend and take part of the annual festivities and the highly anticipated Traslación.
Among the reminders is the continued prohibition on devotees climbing onto the andas during the procession.
Wiping cloths or towels on the image, carrying the cross, and pulling the rope will be allowed, but kissing the image of the Black Nazarene remains prohibited.
Attendees of the procession are also strongly advised to wear face masks and to refrain from joining the Traslación if they are feeling unwell.
All forms of vending will be banned along the procession route.
The display of flags and banners bearing any symbols is also not permitted.
Drones are prohibited except for those operated by authorities.
The Church has likewise released the list of activities from December 1 to January 9, which include the Thanksgiving Procession, Barangay Masses, Fiesta Masses, Pahalik, and the Thanksgiving Mass.
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso assured the public that the Manila Police District (MPD) is prepared to secure the city throughout the duration of the activities.
He added that the MPD may deploy additional police personnel if more security is needed during the celebration.
The mayor also noted that other uniformed personnel from the National Government will help maintain order during the Feast of the Black Nazarene.
Meanwhile, the route of the andas will remain the same as last year, passing through eighteen national roads, starting from Quirino Grandstand ending at Quiapo Church.
Quiapo Church expressed its hopes for a solemn, orderly, and safe Feast of the Nazarene 2026.
The Church urged devotees to focus more on worshipping the Black Nazarene rather than climbing the andas.
The Church also appealed to all devotees to follow the guidelines set for the celebration.
