Manila, Philippines – Quezon City 1st District Representative Arjo Atayde, who has been mentioned in connection with alleged irregularities in flood control projects, said he is prepared to return to the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) for the next hearing should his presence be required.
Atayde stressed that he has nothing to hide and will not attempt to leave the country to evade any investigation. He added that before anyone points fingers, evidence against him should first be presented, noting that up to now, no proof has been shown implicating him or his father.
The lawmaker appeared at the ICI hearing in Taguig City on Monday amid accusations linking him to anomalous flood control initiatives. However, Atayde requested an executive session with the commission, resulting in his testimony not being livestreamed or made public.
When asked why he made such a request, Atayde explained that the ICI itself asked whether he preferred his testimony to be livestreamed, and he responded accordingly.
