RUMINANTS FROM OTHER LUZON PROVINCE PROHIBITED IN ALBAY

The provincial government of Albay, through the Veterinary Office, has strengthened border control by banning the entry of ruminant animals due to reported cases of Q fever in several provinces of Luzon.

According to Dr. Pancho Mella, head of the Veterinary Office, that the strict implementation of border control is based on an executive order by Governor Edcel Greco Lagman.

He said the established control borders at all interprovincial borders, conduct checkpoints to ensure that all animals entering Albay are properly documented.

He added that the papers and documents of all animals entering the province will be checked and it will be ensured that they have the necessary shipping permits and veterinary health certificates.

It added that ruminants such as cattle, sheep, and goats from the provinces of Luzon, particularly Pampanga and Marinduque, are not allowed to enter Albay, following the discovery of the first cases of Q fever in these areas. .
