SARAH DISCAYA SURRENDERS TO NBI AMID LOOMING ARREST ORDER

Manila, Philippines– While the government’s campaign against corruption progresses, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced yesterday that contractor Sarah Discaya may be arrested this week.

In a video statement, Marcos confirmed this noting that an arrest warrant may also be out within the same week.

Hours after the video was released, Discaya appeared before the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to surrender herself even without the arrest warrant.

Atty. Cornelio Samaniego III, representing the Discayas, noted that Sarah’s surrender is not  because she is guilty of the accusations against her, but rather a legal strategy of their camp.

Samaniego defended that Discaya’s voluntary surrender even without an arrest order means that she has nothing to hide and that her conscience is clear.

Discaya is charged by the Office of the Ombudsman with a non-bailable malversation of public funds through falsification in relation to the P96.5 million ghost infrastructure projects in Davao Occidental in 2022.

Spouses Sarah and Curlee Discaya own the Alpha and Omega General Contractor & Development Corporation, one of the top 15 construction firms involved in the anomalous flood control projects.

Aside from Sarah Discaya, nine other individuals were charged with the same complaints over the Davao Occidental project.
