Manila, Philippines – The Supreme Court has directed Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla and the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) to comment on the appeal of former lawmaker Zaldy Co over his flood control-related charges.
In a session, SC acted on the petition, giving the Office of the Ombudsman and ICI 10 days since receipt of notice to file a comment over Co’ petition for certiorari over the graft and malversation of funds cases filed against him.
The petition challenges the Ombudsman’s resolution citing a probable cause to charge him over his alleged involvement in the anomaly, particularly on the P289.5 million flood control project on Oriental Mindoro.
Go argued that the findings were a grave abuse of discretion and that his rights for due process were violated.
Through the petition, Co also expressed prayer for the issuance of a temporary restraining order.
Amid the directive, SC did not necessarily give due course or merit to the petition.
