SC TELLS DUTERTE SIBLINGS TO RESPOND ON GOV’T COMMENT ON THEIR PETITION FOR FPRRD’S RETURN

Manila, Philippines — The Supreme Court announced on Tuesday that it has received the Consolidated Compliance filed by the government officials that are listed as respondents of the “bring former President Rodrigo Duterte home” petition.

This was also confirmed by SC Spokesperson Atty. Camille Ting in a press Briefing on Tuesday, and was filed by Department of Justice Officer-in-Charge Undersecretary Nicholas Felix L. Ty, the authorized representative of the respondents of the case.

“The SC received the Consolidated Compliance with its March 13, 2025 Resolution, filed by Department of Justice Officer-in-Charge Undersecretary Nicholas Felix L. Ty, who was authorized to represent the respondents in this case considering the recusal of the Office of the Solicitor General,” the SC press briefer reads.

It can be recalled that on March 13, SC released a resolution mandating several government officials to comment on the consolidated habeas corpus petition filed by the Duterte siblings, seeking to deflect the arrest and detention of the former president Duterte in ICC for crimes against humanity.

During the High Court’s en banc session, it has also enacted on the said consolidated compliance.

“The SC directed petitioners Sebastian Z. Duterte, Veronica A. Duterte, and Paolo Z. Duterte to file a traverse in response to the Consolidated Compliance within a non-extendible period of five days from receipt of notice, “ SC added.

In a similar note, the SC also enacted on the Motion for Reconsideration filed by former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Senator Ronald Dela Rosa versus key government officials.

This comes after the High Court denied their petition for the immediate issuance of a Temporary Restraining order to block Duterte’s arrest.

“The SC noted without action the Motion for Reconsideration filed by former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Senator Ronald Dela Rosa (petitioners) regarding the SC’s denial of their prayer for the issuance of a temporary restraining order,” SC said.

Further, it stated: “The SC ordered respondents Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin et al., to file their comment on the new matters raised in the Supplement to the Petition filed by petitioners within a non-extendible period of 10 days from receipt of notice.”
