SWS: MAJORITY OF FILIPINOS SAYS DUTERTE SHOULD BE PUNISHED FOR WAR ON DRUGS KILLINGS

Manila, Philippines — More than half of Filipinos agree that former President Rodrigo Duterte should be held accountable for the deaths related to his war on drugs campaign, says a recent survey of Social Weather Stations.

Based on the Stratbase-SWS February 2025 National Survey, 51% of the adult respondents believe that Duterte should be punished for the extra judicial killings related to drugs that happened under his administration.

In this number, 32% strongly agreed to the said premise, while 19% somewhat agreed.

Majority of those that agreed were from the Visayas region with 62%, followed by North Luzon with 60%, Balance Luzon with 49%, while Mindanao recorded 47%.

It can also be noted that 25% of the survey population disagreed with the premise of the survey; 14% were undecided; while 10% said that they did not know much about the issue to give an opinion or answer.

The survey was conducted on February 15-19, 2025, with face-to-face interviews for 1,800 adult Filipino voters.
