Trillanes Files Candidacy for Caloocan Mayor

MANILA — Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV officially submitted his certificate of candidacy (COC) for the mayoral race in Caloocan City on Thursday.

Trillanes is running alongside his vice mayoral candidate, former councilor PJ Alonzo.

Born and raised in Barangay 169, North Caloocan, Trillanes expressed his readiness to serve the city’s residents. He emphasized that his proven track record in fighting corruption would give him an edge over his main competitor, the incumbent Mayor Along Malapitan.

“Ang layunin po natin ay maiahon ang ating mga kababayan mula sa kahirapan at ayusin ang samu’t saring problema ng aming lungsod. Ito ay bagong hamon sa aking buhay being a public servant pero ito po ay nararapat at napapanahon,” Trillanes stated.

In his candidacy announcement, Trillanes also vowed to challenge the entrenched political dynasty in Caloocan. “In the coming months, we will be very intense as we try to dismantle a corrupt political dynasty who is determined to hold on to Caloocan,” he added.

Recalling his past experiences, Trillanes highlighted how he triumphed in the 2007 senatorial elections while incarcerated. “We hope to reignite that same enthusiasm and excitement dito sa amin,” he remarked.

Trillanes also committed to transforming Caloocan into one of the most business-friendly cities, with the goal of attracting more investments and generating employment opportunities.
