TRUMP CUTS FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR SOUTH AFRICA

Washington, USA — United States President Donald Trump has signed an executive order to cut the funding to South Africa.

The White House confirmed this move on Friday, citing the reasons such as the land policy of Africa, as well as the genocide case it filed at the International Court of Justice against Israel—a Washington ally.

Trump said that South Africa is confiscating land and that “certain classed of people were treated very badly.”

It can be recalled that last month, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa signed into law a bill making it easier for the state to expropriate land in public interest.

Ramaphosa defended the policy, emphasizing that it is aimed to even out reacial disparities in land ownership and that the government had not confiscated any land, as claimed by Trump.

Following this, the White House said that Washington will formulate a plan to resettle South African farmers and their families as refugees.

Aside from this, the White House brought up the case of South Africa accusing Israel of genocide over the military measures in the Gaza strip.

This was cited by the White House as an example of South Africa taking positions against US and its allies.

While Trump threatened to cut off funding in Africa in recent executive order, white House says that this order will address human rights issues in the African nation.
