Washington, USA — United States President Donald Trump is insisting that negotiations between the United States and Iran are still ongoing.
Speaking at the White House, Trump said the U.S. is now communicating with what he described as the “right people” in Iran, although he did not provide concrete details about these contacts.
He also claimed that Iran has agreed not to develop nuclear weapons moving forward.
Trump further said he was encouraged by what he described as a “gift” from these Iranian contacts, citing it significant and valuable.
While he declined to elaborate, he indicated that the gesture is related to oil and gas.
For context, Trump also stated during the same remarks that a “regime change” has effectively taken place in Iran following what he described as a successful campaign by the United States and Israel.
He said the country’s leadership is now different from when the conflict began.
When asked whether he trusts those involved, Trump said he does not trust anyone.
Despite these claims, Iranian officials continue to deny that any formal negotiations are underway.
Earlier, the Iranian Parliament Speaker rejected reports of talks, calling them “fake news.”
Meanwhile, in a new statement carried by Iranian media, a military spokesperson also dismissed Washington’s claims, suggesting the United States may be mischaracterizing the situation and is just negotiating with itself.
