US President Donald Trump slams two major American media outlets Sunday night, accusing them over negative coverages toward his administration.
In a series of posts on his Truth Social platform, Trump targeted ABC and NBC News, claiming their coverage was “97% bad stories,” though he did not cite any specific reportage.
It also includes his defense describing his first eight months in office was deemed successful: “Despite a very high popularity and, according to many, among the greatest 8 months in Presidential History, ABC & NBC FAKE NEWS, two of the worst and most biased networks in history, give me 97% BAD STORIES.”
He then further alleged that the outlets serve as “an arm of the Democrat Party,” which directly opposed Republican views, and warned they pose “a threat to democracy.”
These statements led him to believe that their broadcast licenses should be revoked by their communications commission, accusing them of another biased and untruthful reporting without specifying any detailed reason: “IF THAT IS THE CASE, THEY ARE SIMPLY AN ARM OF THE DEMOCRAT PARTY AND SHOULD, ACCORDING TO MANY, HAVE THEIR LICENSES REVOKED BY THE FCC. I would be totally in favor of that because they are so biased and untruthful, an actual threat to our Democracy!!!”
In a follow-up post, Trump repeated his statements and demanded that the networks be forced to “pay up big” for their licenses.
“They should lose their Licenses for their unfair coverage of Republicans and/or Conservatives, but at a minimum, they should pay up BIG for having the privilege of using the most valuable airwaves anywhere at anytime!!!”
The two media outlets have not yet released any statement as of this time.
Meanwhile, less than two months ago, Trump also slammed another news outlet.
Filing a lawsuit over CBS news, he claimed that the network edited an interview of him ahead of the US elections in a way that made his Presidential hopeful opponent, former Vice President Kamala Harris appear more competent.
