Manila, Philippines – Following a disastrous 8.8 magnitude earthquake that hit several regions in Russia, a tsunami hit the coastal part of Pacific.
The Tsunami in the Kamchatka Peninsula was three to five meters high, or sixteen feet, which caused flooding in ports and plants according to Russia’s emergency ministry.
According to Russian Scientists, this is the strongest earthquake that hit the region since 1952.
Many buildings were damaged, many people were injured in the quake.
A state calamity has also been imposed in the damaged areas, and the tsunami-hit areas.
In Hawaii, those in the coastal area have been ordered to evacuate to higher grounds due to the approaching tsunami.
Based on the advisory of the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, the wave height reaches 1.7 meters or as high as humans that will affect the islands in Hawaii.
Flights on the airports from Maui have also been canceled.
The earthquake that struck Russia also affected parts of the Aleutian islands in Alaska.
A tsunami warning has also been issued for some coastal areas of Alaska and residents have been advised to evacuate to higher ground.
Thousands of people living near the Pacific coast of Japan have also been evacuated due to the threat of a tsunami.
Waves are expected to reach 1.3 meters (4.3 feet) in coastal areas of Japan.
