Russia launched a series of air attacks on a residential area in Kharkiv, Ukraine, early Monday morning.
According to a Reuters report, four drone strikes hit a five-story apartment building, killing two children aged 6 to 17 years old and injuring 17 others.
Kharkiv’s regional governor also confirmed that a 3-year-old boy was among the casualties of the strike.
Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city located in the country’s northeastern part near the Russian border, has been a frequent target of attacks.
No more than two days prior to the drone strike, a ballistic missile also hit the city’s industrial district, shattering over 1,000 windows.
In other news, US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin met in Alaska last Friday for talks on the ongoing war.
During the meeting, Putin reportedly demanded for more Ukraine land, while Trump urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to consider striking a deal with Moscow to end the war.
However, Zelenskiy rejected the idea.
He is also set to travel to Washington on Monday (Tuesday in the Philippines) to continue discussions on a peace settlement.
